The Kansas City Chiefs announced Thursday the club has added Maurice Carthon to head coach Todd Haley's coaching staff.
The Chiefs announced the responsibilities of six other members of the coaching staff: Chan Gailey (offensive coordinator), Bob Bicknell (tight ends), Joe D'Alessandris (assistant offensive line), Steve Hoffman (special teams), Bill Muir (offensive line) and Dedric Ward (wide receivers).
Carthon will serve as assistant head coach.
Carthon has 15 years of NFL coaching experience and most recently served two seasons as the running backs coach with Arizona (2007-08). Before joining the Cardinals, he was the offensive coordinator for Cleveland (2005-06). Carthon served as the offensive coordinator/running backs coach for two seasons with Dallas (2003-04). He spent two campaigns with Detroit (2001-02), one each as running backs coach (2001) and offensive coordinator (2002).
The Arizona Cardinals hired former Chiefs assistant Curtis Modkins as running backs coach to replace Carthon.
Modkins was the Chiefs' running backs coach a season ago.
