Pride and shame
Congratulations, Pittsburgh Steelers ! What a tribute you gave to all of us who live in the Pittsburgh area. I am so proud of you. Your humility and team spirit are to be commended.
To the Pittsburgh fans from Oakland and the South Side who put a black mark on such a tremendous victory: You have brought shame to your team, your city, your schools and your community. Where do you get off destroying property, putting lives in danger as firebugs, etc.? You are not true Steelers fans. You just needed a reason to drink, party and wreak havoc.
May the Steelers and the city find a place in their hearts to forgive you!

Super fans
I recently attended Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa. As an Arizona Cardinals fan, I found myself surrounded by the Steeler Nation. Being completely outnumbered (only about six Cardinals fans in our entire section), I felt a little uncomfortable at first. However, I soon found that the Steelers fans were great. They turned the game into a wonderful experience.
So, from the Arizona Cardinals lady in Section 329, Row J: Thank you, Steelers fans, for everything you are.

Keep politics out
All of Pittsburgh is thrilled with another Super Bowl victory. However, a number of my friends and former Pittsburghers were very upset over Dan Rooney's comments regarding President Barack Obama and his rooting for the Steelers when Mr. Rooney accepted the trophy.
Two lessons for Mr. Rooney and the new president: The Super Bowl is an all-American game and the president should not make his preference known, and second, politics has no place in the Football arena.

Dan's prerogative
Regarding Dan Francik's concern about giveaways to President Barack Obama from Dan Rooney ("Rooney Giveaways," Jan. 31 letters): Please remember that Mr. Rooney, as owner of the Steelers, may give a game Football or trophy or Super Bowl ring to whomever he pleases.
Mr. Rooney did not give John McCain a jersey because he did not support him in the presidential election.
