They are the Arizona Cardinals, the laughingstock of the NFL for years upon years. This is a group of guys that haven’t made the playoffs since 1998 and might be best known these last few years for adding Emmitt Smith’s corpse just to get a little media attention.
After a Monday night win over the 49ers, a division rival, Arizona has a four game lead in the NFC West and has a head coach in Ken Whisenhunt that is boasting the best 25 game record as a Cardinals head coach since 1926.
Florio at did some digging and found that Norm Barry started his career with the Cardinals 16-7-2, a slight edge over Whisenhunt’s 14-11, before getting canned in 1926 because, well, who knows why.
In his first stint as the head dog for an NFL team, the 46-year-old Whisenhunt has basically thrown out the traditional playbook for his own decisions, which are working out fairly well so far.Continue Reading
